Jackie Chan: India is a wonderful market for films

The much-loved action star was speaking at the opening of the China Film Festival in New Delhi, where his latest film Chinese Zodiac was screened

Indian movie buffs have loved his action avatar for years, but Hollywood actor Jackie Chan, in New Delhi for the inauguration of the China Film Festival on Tuesday, showed his jolly side much to the delight of the starstruck audience. He said he is growing old, but it’s the audience’s love that keeps him going.
“Namaste! Please sit down, sit down,” Chan told the over-enthusiastic audience, which stood up and went clickety-click at the packed Siri Fort Auditorium as he took to the stage. He said it was “so exciting” to be here, and he felt “so honoured”.
“I’m not young anymore, but you all love me. And that is why I do stunts, and risk my life for all you fans,” he said as the star of movies like Police StoryRush Hour and The Myth addressed the audience full of young and old fans.
The Hong Kong-born actor sang in Chinese, but he proved that music knows no language – his song, which he explained was all about “loving your country”, regaled his fans. “You may not understand the lyrics, but the music is beautiful,” he said. And it was.
“Jackie, Jackie! Jackie, Jackie” – the audience cheered on.
The six-day China Film Festival is a joint initiative of the India China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC), India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and the Chinese Embassy in India. It kickstarted with the screening of Chan’s latest film Chinese Zodiac. The 59-year-old Asian star said initiatives like the fest will help both the countries understand each others’ cinema.
He even said that next year, China will be happy to host an Indian film festival, and he will make sure he attends it.
Talking about India as a film market, he said, “I think India is a wonderful market. It has 1.2 billion population and some 12,000 screens. It is a big market, so everybody will concentrate on your country (gradually).”

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari was also present at the event for the inauguration.

Prasoon joshi:we need....

Prasoon Joshi: We need mediocrity to recognise good songs!

The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag writer talks about his writing process, working with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and his theory of why bad songwriting is here to stay

National Award winning songwriter/poet/ad-man Prasoon Joshi says creativity comes easy to him. In fact, he is proud that he can spontaneously be creative and have the lyrics flow as smooth as his songs sound, thanks to his background in advertising. It’s this training that has helped him handle so many professions so successfully, he says. Now eagerly awaiting the release of his debut film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag - for which he has written the screenplay as well as the script – Prasoon tells us in an exclusive interview his views on bad songwriting, the process of writing lyrics and movies and the lessons he learned from Milkha Singh
What was it like, switching from writing songs to writing a full-fledged script?
It was challenging, but also fun and a great way to learn. When I accepted Bhaag Milkha Bhaag I did so because I saw a challenge there. As a matter of principle, I always take projects I can learn from. And I have worked on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag for three years. It’s a continuous process, writing a script. There were no breaks, so to say, but I did some other work in between. But when I was writing, I did it in week-long sessions. There was a lot of fine tuning.
What is like it working with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra?
I’ve worked with him on a number of projects, and I respect him as a director. We go back a long way. We’re from the same fraternity – advertising – and this makes working with him very easy and exciting for me. The first time I worked with him was on RDB - I did dialogues and songs. The second time was on Delhi 6, where I again did songs and dialogues. But on this one I came in early, pretty much while the film was being conceptualised.

Deepika Padukone--- losses weight!

Deepika Padukone goes back to Cocktail diet to lose weight!!!

Deepika Padukone goes back to Cocktail diet to lose weight

The actor’s thunder thighs have been under the scanner ever since she shook her booty at IPL 2013’s opening ceremony in those tight leg-hugging pants

Hot babe Deepika Padukone has been sticking her nose to the grindstone to finish the films that she’s currently a part of –Ramleela, Chennai Express and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. It seems she’s hardly had the time to follow her rigorous workout sessions because of her crazy schedule. The babe is pretty much conscious of the fact that the cellulite is getting all prominent. The actor with the washboard abs and the toned body looks good in that plump avatar – but the girl’s definitely got to make sure that she doesn’t turn into the next Silk Smitha. Curves are in, but fat is surely not. So we hear that the alarm bells have been set off already and Ms P is doing what it takes to get back in shape. After all, she has to shoot for Ramleela and obviously needs to fit into the clothes that are designed for her or else we can already imagine director Sanjay Leela Bhansali cracking the whip on the babe.
We hear DP is back to the hardcore diet that she followed during Cocktail. She has now started eating every two hours, starting the day with eggs and ending it with a glass of healthy vegetable juice. Bolly B had also mentioned that DP needs to shed those kilos asap, looks like the message has reached the right place.
Soon enough we will get to see the babe strutting around in her super hot ensembles…way to go girl, cheering and hooting for you already!

Arjun Kapooe with Alia Bhatt

Are Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt going the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone way? Are Arjun Kapoor-Alia Bhatt going the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone way?

The recent shenanigans of the couple quietly sneaking in during a movie screening reminds us of the Ramleela affair

Remember the time when Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were spotted doing late night dinners and partying wild just while they began shooting for Ramleela? They had then maintained that that they were doing so on the instructions of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and weren’t ‘dating’. Fast forward a few months, and looking at how the two are going strong makes us feel as if SLB played cupid!
We know that history often repeats itself, and this time it is Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt who are playing the same game. Arjun and Alia, who are starring in Abhishek Varman’s2 States, were seen trying to hide the fact that they came to the movies together, but in a rather lame way! What transpired was that while Arjun came on time, Alia made a quiet appearance, but only when the lights went off. Uff, filmy nakhras! It was only during interval that the duo was spotted sitting together. And try they may to appear all nonchalant as if there’s nothing going on, we could spot a budding romance a mile away from the way the two were trying to hide things!
So, what do you guys think? How soon will the two finally come out about their relationship? The film releases on April 7, 2014. Enough time that is to get to know each other. Wink wink!

We chanced upon a picture of Dips looking ethereal in a traditional Indian look

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singhis an Indian adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, and is set in Gujarat in violent times.Deepika plays the character of Leela, which requires her to have an old world charm and look traditional.
Despite SLB’s attempt to keep the look of the film under wraps, a picture of Dips with make-up artist and hair-stylist Dorris Godambe has made its way to the public. Must say Dorris has done a superb job as Deepika looks stunningly beautiful. Dorris and her husband Bharat had earlier worked on Deepika’s look in Om Shanti Om for which they even won an award at IIFA 2008 for best make-up and hairstyling.
The overall look – the white blouse, red-white-gold sari and the big mang ka tika – give the actor a royal touch. We are sure Dips is going to light up the screen with her ethereal beauty!

Ranbir Kapoor wants to get his Punjabi right for Besharam!

The actor has hired a tutor to improve his Punjabi diction for the Abhinav Kashyap film

Ranbir Kapoor, who is on cloud nine after the success of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani(YJHD), is leaving no stone unturned to give his best in Besharam. The Bollywood heartthrob is polishing his Punjabi diction for the comedy.
“They are shooting a lot in Chandigarh, so Ranbir has been learning the language. It is crucial for his character, so a tutor has been hired. He’s been practicing to speak like the locals there – in terms of usage of words and their pronunciations,” said a source.
Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, the movie also features Ranbir’s parents – actors Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor – along with Pallavi Sharda. Besharam is set for an October 2 release.
“Since YJHD has released and become a huge success, he’s relaxed and at ease. Besharam will be his most massy film so far, and it’ll have him sharing screen space with his parents for the first time. Even when the film’s poster was released, it generated a lot of curiosity,” the source added.

The Krrish 3 director says he’s not as active as Big B and KJo when it comes to social networking

“I admire people with boundless energy like Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar. They are very active on social networking platforms. They work so hard — be it in films or television, they are there for social causes; they are just amazing. I have not even gone beyond texting people. If I have to reply to too many text messages, I get tired.”

Jiah Khan’s sister Karishma Khan ready to make her Bollywood debut?

Jiah Khan’s sister Karishma Khan ready to make her Bollywood debut?

Rumours abound that the sister of the late starlet will soon be looking at starring in a Hindi film

Jiah Khan was without doubt a very beautiful person. The young actor, who met a premature end, was acclaimed for her acting in her debut film Nishabd, where she held her own alongside the legendary Amitabh BachchanThis makes us feel that acting runs in her genes, considering her mum Rabia Khan too has done her share in the limelight; she acted in N Chandra’s superhit 1986 movie Ankush. And now Jiah’s younger sister Karishma Khan will be making her debut, if rumours are to be believed.
We heard that Rabia Khan was already in talks with a few producers to discuss investing in Karishma’s debut film. However, with the sudden and unfortunate news of Jiah’s suicide, we presume that Karishma will be taking her time to recover from the shock before she can make any move towards working on a debut film. Apparently when Jiah was alive, she was quite excited about her sister’s potential movie career..
Well, Karishma definitely is a good-looking girl, and we’re sure she will have a great chance at success in Bollywood. But after such a cruel twist of fate that was her sister’s life, would this new Khan kid want to be a part of the film industry? We wonder…

Priyanka Chopra bursts into tears during Mary Kom’s mahurat shot

Priyanka Chopra resumed work yesterday and started off with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus biopic based on the renowned boxer, Mary Kom. Priyanka came along with her mother for the mahurat shot. While she looked totally in control of herself initially, she could not hold back her tears and broke down eventually.
Daddy’s li’l girl PeeCee was allowed to take her own time to deal with the loss but she decided to come back and shoot to keep herself occupied and assured the director that she was mentally ready and prepared to get on with the work. She also performed a small puja on the sets.

The mahurat shot of the film saw Priyanka wearing a blue jersey and red shots as she threw a few punches in the ring with an American fighter. She is playing the renowned boxer in thisSanjay Leela Bhansali film, and we know that she is a fighter in real life too. We hope PC gathers enough strength to get past this tough phase.
